Trace Worcester Federal Custody Releases

To find someone released to ICE or U.S. Marshals custody from Worcester County, treat the county event as a handoff until federal records show what followed. ICE and USMS do not publish one Worcester County historical release list. ICE’s public locator checks present qualifying immigration detention, while federal pretrial custody often depends on the court and a contract holding facility. A no-result is not proof of community release. The correct federal custody search identifies the agency, uses its limited current tool, and then matches the county or state transfer record to federal court or agency documentation.

Worcester Federal Custody Handoffs

A WCSO or Massachusetts DOC record may say “released to Immigration,” “federal authority,” “warrant,” or “another criminal justice agency.” That wording means the first custodian closed its event. It does not establish that the person entered the community. The destination field names the next search path.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations handles qualifying immigration detention. USMS manages many federal pretrial detainees and may use state, local, or private contract facilities. BOP handles sentenced federal prisoners. These systems have different locators and records, so searching one cannot rule out the others.

Search Current ICE Custody

The ICE Online Detainee Locator checks present qualifying ICE detention. Search by A-number and country of birth, or by exact biographical details such as full name, date of birth, and country of birth. Exact data matters because spelling and identity variants can change results.

A returned location supports current ICE detention. A no-result does not prove release, removal, or the absence of federal custody. Recent booking, transfer, spelling, age, or a custody category outside the locator can affect what appears. The failed manifest capture for this tool is not used as an image.

  1. Obtain the A-number from the county, state, immigration, or case record when available.
  2. Search the A-number with country of birth, then try exact biographical data if needed.
  3. Record the date and facility information from any result.
  4. If no result appears, call the relevant ERO channel or use ICE records and immigration-court information.
  5. Compare the federal result to the WCSO or DOC transfer date and destination.

ICE’s Detention Reporting and Information Line is 1-888-351-4024. It is a routing and information channel, not a public historical release archive.

ICE Detainers After Worcester Release

An ICE detainer is a request tied to immigration enforcement. ICE describes it as a request for notice before release and for up to 48 additional hours, excluding weekends and federal holidays, so DHS can assume custody. The detainer does not itself show that ICE actually took the person or what later happened.

Request the WCSO or DOC release type, destination, and transfer documentation. Then check ICE custody. If the county record says immigration but ICE shows no current result, use ERO, immigration-court information, or agency records to establish whether a transfer, later release, or removal occurred. Do not fill that gap with an assumption.

Detainer
A request connected to another authority’s possible custody action.
Handoff
The end of one agency’s custody and possible start of another’s.
Removal
An immigration process outcome distinct from release into the community.
A-number
An immigration identifier used by the ICE locator.

The official ICE detainer page supplies the federal definition and time limit.

Trace U.S. Marshals Custody

USMS has no general public historical detainee locator. Federal pretrial detainees may be housed in contract local, state, or private facilities, so a facility name can differ from the agency with legal custody. FMC Devens is a BOP prison and should not be assumed to hold every federal defendant connected to Worcester County.

Start with the federal court docket. A detention or release order can state the legal result. Ask the known holding facility for the physical admission, transfer, or release event. Use USMS custody and detention information and agency records when the marshal’s role must be documented. If sentencing led to BOP, switch to the BOP locator.

A court release order and a facility release entry answer related but distinct questions. The order authorizes a result. The holding record shows when physical custody changed. Match both dates and any named destination.

Request Worcester Federal Custody Records

Begin with the agency that recorded the handoff. For WCSO, request the release or discharge entry, date, time, type, destination, and legal authority from WCSOPRR@sdw.state.ma.us. For Massachusetts DOC, use its records officer and ask for the same destination fields. Those records establish who received or was expected to receive custody.

Then request federal records from the proper agency. ICE records should identify the person with an A-number and tight date range. USMS requests should include the federal case number, district, custody dates, and known facility. BOP FOIA applies when the person entered sentenced BOP custody. Each agency can redact protected law-enforcement, privacy, medical, security, and third-party material.

BOP Records After Federal Transfer

If the person entered BOP custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. It covers post-1982 federal records and can display a current location or a past release date. A past date with no location means BOP says release occurred on that date. BOP warns that another correctional system or supervised release may still apply.

Search by BOP, DCDC, FBI, or INS number, or by name with demographic refiners. Results update daily. For further public federal inmate information, use BOP FOIA; older records may be held by the National Archives. Do not use BOP to infer ICE or USMS status before BOP admission.

Note: BOP, ICE, and USMS records cannot be merged into one public Worcester County release history.

Worcester Federal Custody Contacts

No Worcester County public released-person facility roster exists for ICE or USMS. Use the ICE locator and Detention Reporting and Information Line for present immigration detention. Use the federal court and known holding facility for USMS pretrial custody. Use BOP for sentenced federal custody.

Keep the releasing record beside the federal result. A county “release to ICE” followed by an ICE location shows a handoff. A county release with no ICE result remains unresolved until agency or court records explain it. Precision about the custody segment is more reliable than a broad claim that someone was released.

Prove a Worcester Federal Handoff

Use a two-record test whenever the county or state record names a federal destination. The first record should show that WCSO or DOC ended its custody and identify the destination, authority, date, and release type. The second should come from ICE, USMS, BOP, the federal court, or the physical holding facility and show what began. A county “release” plus a federal admission is continuous custody, not release to the community.

ICE’s locator supplies a present detention result, not a historical timeline. Save the exact search inputs, displayed status, facility, and query date. If the person is not found, verify spelling, A-number, country of birth, timing, and scope before drawing a conclusion. The information line can help with routing, but a phone inquiry does not replace a written agency record where proof is needed.

USMS custody often requires more reconstruction. The federal docket can show a detention or release order. A contract facility can show physical admission and transfer. USMS records can explain the marshal’s custody role. If the person is later sentenced and enters BOP, the register number and locator record become the stronger public path. Do not assume FMC Devens merely because it is the familiar regional federal prison.

Federal supervised release is also distinct from detention. It is imposed by a federal court after imprisonment and does not appear as current BOP custody. Conversely, immigration detention after a BOP or county release is still custody. State the agency and stage each time so “released” is never stretched beyond the record that supports it.
